Policies & Procedures

The following policies have been set in place to help me be a better teacher, and help my students be better learners! If there is ever a question or problem with any of these policies, please talk to me so that we can work something out.

Payment is due on the first lesson of a given month. Lessons are $80 per month. Monthly tuition includes 4 half-hour lessons. If enrollment allows, this may be changed to 3 half-hour lessons and one 45 –minute group class per month.

Attendance at lessons is important to the progress of the student.
• If you need to cancel a lesson, please give as much advance notice as possible- at least 24 hours, ideally.
• If you need to cancel a lesson, I will try to reschedule. However, if my schedule does not permit, you will have to forfeit the lesson (tuition will not be refunded).
• If you do not come to a lesson and have not given any notice, you will automatically forfeit the lesson (tuition will not be refunded).
• If I need to cancel a lesson due to scheduling difficulties, I will always reschedule it, or refund your tuition. Typically a reschedule will be possible. If a refund is necessary, it will likely be credited to the next month’s tuition.

Practice time is especially important for students to retain information and be ready to build on prior knowledge by the next lesson. Do at least a little each day, even if it’s just ten minutes of practice time. This is always more effective than “cramming” before a lesson! As you progress, be prepared to make time in your schedule to practice more advanced music and techniques.

Materials for lessons vary depending on the ability of the student, but there are a few basics. You should always bring the Suzuki Violin Method Book that you are currently working from, along with a blank notebook for lesson notes. Your violin case should include rosin and a shoulder pad of some sort. Additional materials will be suggested as needed.  Materials are not provided my the studio, so check the Rentals & Retailers tab for local music stores where you can purchase needed items.

I am excited to be your violin teacher! If you have questions or concerns at any time, please feel free to e-mail or call me.
