About Your Violin Teacher

When I was growing up, everyone who came to our house brought a violin.  Since my mother taught violin lessons, I assumed everyone knew how to play.  By the time I was three years old, I felt tired of being left out, and I begged for a violin of my own.  I have loved to play ever since.

I had the opportunity to learn from some of the greatest violinists in my hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah.  My first teacher was a master Suzuki Method teacher, and gave me a strong foundation of technique and musicality.  I went on to learn from several members of the Utah Symphony, until I left Salt Lake to attend Utah State University.

I earned a B.A. in Music Education, and in addition to private violin lessons, I have spent several years teaching elementary school music in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Juggling general music, choir, string orchestra, and private lessons has given me a unique and vast knowledge base that has improved my teaching and deepened my experience with children.

So what are lessons with Mrs. Schow like?  With 24 years of playing experience and 13 years of teaching under my belt, you are getting a polished violinist as well as a seasoned educator as your violin teacher.  Mostly, I can guarantee a teacher that loves playing the violin, and loves sharing what she knows with her violin students.  If I didn't love it, I wouldn't do it!
